All of PawSwap’s Master NFTs are ordinary city cats petted by our team members & friends, with their own backstories. We will have a series to tell you every story behind them, what they experienced and why they should be loved.

The first story is about an American shorthair, NAO.

The Master NFT of NAO

NAO is an 8 years old male American shorthair with folded ears. Folded ears often mean that the cat is with a congenital genetic mutant problem on cartilage and is susceptible to diseases. Usually, a folded-ear cat has a rough fate, suffering from illness in adult life.

NAO was born in a commercial cattery. When he was adopted by a young couple, he just weaned after 3 months of life. Yet, there may be a happy childhood for NAO along with the lovely couples. However, the couple broke up when NAO at 4 where NAO eventually became the scar in the memories of the once-beloved partners not to mention the cat is now a burden for new life ahead of both young feeders. Therefore, neither one wanted to keep NAO, so NAO was applied to be abandoned.

Fortunately, a young man who just ended a relationship and lost custody of the co-feeding cat, heard about NAO’s story and decided to bring him home. The two broken hearts embrace each other for warmth and healing together. NAO, what a lucky and unlucky cat!

The new breeder has given NAO the best care he could, knowing the folded-ear cat’s fate. NAO’s daily life is idly laying on a revolving chair, sometimes on a Cherry keyboard, or hiding on the top of a 6-feet bookshelf, wandering by the living room, the kitchen, or the narrow corridor, enjoying the unlimited supply of foods and water from an automatic feeding machine, repeat these all day long until his friend back home in the evening. Sometimes, the NAO is annoying but always obedient, intensive, and frightened when facing a serious warning. There is a happy life ahead and still, some memories remain.

As NAO grows older, coupled with its congenital deficiency, it gets sick more and more frequently. He also has a health condition of chronic renal failure and often resulted in a urinary system infection. Every time NAO comes back from the pet vet, it takes a few days for it to recover from the exhausted condition. Yet, the young adoptor never left, in a promise to stay with NAO for the rest of his life.

We wish a healthier and happier future for NAO, with immense gratitude for the breeder’s kindness, and for his meticulous care.

Besides, we hereby call on everyone not to discriminate against cats with congenital defects such as folded ears and tails. Be careful or stay away from a commercial adoption, as there are some who profit from their defects and pain.

Moreover, we hope every breeder could take adoption seriously and make a pet’s lifelong commitment. Never abandon a life.
